How do I buy your courses?

To enroll in one of our courses, all you need to do is click on “enroll now” and follow the instructions.

In which languages are your courses available?

In English and in French.

Please forgive us if we get any words wrong or if our pronunciation isn't perfect: our English isn't totally fluent, so to make things easier for our students, we've dubbed them with an American voice-over and added subtitles so that the whole course is easier to understand for people who don't speak English very well either.

Please note that we also provide pdf transcripts of the course in English and in French, so you can copy and paste them into Google translate and get the course in your native language.

Why pre-recorded videos instead of live sessions?

Pre-recorded vs live was a tough choice but time zone differences would just not have been manageable. We are in Paris and most of you…are somewhere else in the world! We also felt that gouache can be better learned by watching someone paint and practicing along, again and again. So, we are confident that videos are the best format to learn these techniques. Besides, we are not comfortable enough in English orally - yet! But we are available by email for any question.

When does the course starts?

Whenever you want! You get access to the full course when you enroll and can watch and practice whenever you want.

What is in The Art of the Gouache?

There are 6 sessions, each one about a different aspect of gouache (facets, diamonds, coloured stones, metals, pearls, etc). Each session comes with a pdf transcript and tracing templates.There are also bonuses, like how to remove a stain or how to make gradients. Finally, the course includes one personal feedback by us on one of your artworks.

Can you tell us more about the curriculum of The Art of the Gouache course?

Of course.

In the first session, you'll learn how to draw facets properly. You can skip this part if you already know how to do it, or choose to review it, but we wanted to start this course on a solid basis. You don't have to practice on ALL cuts. We simply wanted to show you the most common ones, so that they're available to you whenever you need them.

The second session is dedicated to diamonds. You'll learn how to work with light - it's absolutely essential for illustrating stones in general - and we'll go quite far into learning about diamonds. If you want to move on to the next session because you've mastered the subject, you can do so, but we want to cover every aspect in our courses for absolute beginners.

Then we move onto to the third session: coloured stones - the transparent ones first (sapphire, ruby, emerald, aquamarine and amethyst), then the opaque ones (chalcedony, moonstone, rose quartz, turquoise, malachite, agate, lapis lazuli).

The fifth session is dedicated to metals, and the sixth (and last) to pearls.

At the end of the course comes our favourite part: we will personally review one of your artworks. We’re very excited to see your talent!

How does it work for the review ?

Once you've completed The Art of Gouache course, you can choose a project from the course - one of the stones or a type of metal for example - or one of your own works, and send it to us by email at contact@karpov.paris. We will send you our feedback within a few days. Since this is a gouache course, just keep in mind that we will only review your gouache technique. Keep in mind that this is completely up to you: you don't have to send us an artwork for review if you don't feel like it.

How much does The Art of the Gouache course cost?

The Art of the Gouache course is priced at €349.

Why is it in €?

Actually, we really wanted to offer it in $. Unfortunately, this proved way too complicated when it came to exchange rates and transatlantic payments. Sorry!

Do we have to add VAT to the price of your course?

Not if you live outside the EU.

Will we learn technical drawing?

You will learn how to draw facets, but technical drawing is an entirely different aspect of jewelry design. We are planning to dedicate of whole course to it - stay tuned!

What about pavage?

We made a course dedicated solely to small stones and pavage. It is called “Perfect Your Pavé” and you can find it here.

Will I get a certificate at the end?

Yes, once you complete one of our courses you will receive a Certificate of Completion with a unique serial number stating that you followed said course. You will be able to unlock it once you have marked all lectures as complete. Just to be clear though: this is not a college diploma!

Will we learn how to paint opals too?

Actually, we have a full course dedicated to opals! Here it is.

How does it work? Do you give us the tracing then we paint over it?

Yes. We will teach you how to draw facets, but we will also be providing you a pdf template with the shapes covered in the lesson. You can download and print it to practice your painting.

What is the course's final price (tax included) for EU residents?

French VAT is 20% so if you live in France and want to buy the Art of the Gouache course for example, you will pay €418.80 instead of €349. Some countries in the EU don't apply VAT to services bought from a French company so it really depends on where you live. But basically you will automatically know at checkout.

I'm trying to enroll but it's taking me to another platform.

Yes, all our courses are hosted on Teachable, so Teachable is also where the checkout takes place.

Are there subtitles?

Our courses are in English with English subtitles. Each course comes with a pdf transcript in English and in French, you can easily copy-paste them into Google Translate if necessary.

Each course is also available in French.

I just bought The Art of the Gouache but I will only be able to start it next month. Am I correct in assuming that this isn't an issue because everything is pre-recorded?

You are absolutely correct! You can purchase it now and begin anytime you want. You will have an lifetime access to all of our videos, so you can start the course when you want and finish when you want. It is totally flexible.

What happens when I have completed the course? Do I still have access to it?

Yes. The course is yours forever as long as you comply with our terms of use. Should we post any update or bonus, you will receive a notification and have access to them with no added fee.
